چکیده

This paper describes the dynamics of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) for monitoring of structures and maintenance of bridges. It presents a novel control law based on computer vision for quasi-stationary flights above a planar target. The first part of the UAV's mission is the navigation from an initial position to a final position in an unknown 3D environment. The new control law uses the homography matrix computed from the information obtained from the vision system. The control scheme will be derived with backstepping techniques. In order to keep the camera's field of view, the control law uses saturation functions for bounding the UAV orientation and limiting it to very small values. © 2007 Elsevier B.V. Dynamic visual servoing with image moments for an unmanned aerial vehicle using a virtual spring approach

This paper presents an image-based visual servoing for controlling the position and orientation of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) using a fixed downward camera observing landmarks on the level ground. In the proposed method, the visual servoing of the image moments is used to control the vertical motion and rotation around the roll axis. In contrast, an undesired positive feedback arises in v...

Vision-Based Loitering Over a Target for a Fixed-Wing UAV

For a fixed-wing Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) equipped with a gimbaled camera, we consider the problem of tracking a visual target while simultaneously bringing the UAV to orbit on a circular trajectory centered above the target. To achieve this kind of loitering behavior, we propose a feedback control method that is inspired by image-based visual servoing and makes use of a backstepping techn...

A FEASIBILITY STUDY ON USING ViSP’S 3D MODEL-BASED TRACKER FOR UAV POSE ESTIMATION IN OUTDOOR ENVIRONMENTS

This paper presents a novel application of the Visual Servoing Platform’s (ViSP) for small UAV pose estimation in outdoor environments. Given an initial approximation for the camera position and orientation, or camera pose, ViSP automatically establishes and continuously tracks corresponding features between an image sequence and a 3D wireframe model of the environment. As ViSP has been demonst...
